Welo Opal Cabochons 3 Piece Set 11.45 Total Carat Weight
A well-matched set of three hand-cut Ethiopian Welo opal cabochons, 11.45 carats total, each one throwing its own bright play-of-color.
Welo (Wollo) opal comes from the Ethiopian highlands and is famous for its vivid fire in reds, greens, blues, and neon hues. Every cabochon in the set was individually cut and polished by hand, the domed shape chosen to maximize depth and brilliance. As a hydrophane opal, Welo can absorb a little moisture and change in appearance, often displaying pinfire, honeycomb, or broad-flash patterns.
